Customers in 750 of Coles’ supermarkets will now pay the same price for the same product on 97 percent of Coles’ groceries items within each state. A handful of border stores will have their prices aligned with all of their neighbouring stores so that a short trip over the border won’t result in different prices on these products. A small freight premium will continue to apply for some remote Western Australian and Northern Territory stores.
From 1 February 2010, Coles will also apply its new lowest everyday prices on 8,000 plus grocery products across the country.
Coles will continue to apply local pricing for its fruit and vegetables as supermarket managers will have the ability to match the best prices for similar quality fruit and vegetables in their local markets.
